Can we go backwards to go forward?
No online shopping. No Google Maps. No morning scroll through Instagram with your coffee in hand.
Would you survive? Would you thrive? Or would you freeze… wondering how to be without it all?
It’s easy to laugh it off—until you realise how many of our everyday choices are powered by habit, convenience, and an algorithm. How often we mindlessly spend, how quickly we search, how rarely we just sit with ourselves without reaching for a screen.
But what if… going backwards is the way forward?
What if the life we’re searching for through hustle, clicks, and curated grids is actually waiting in the quiet, in the simple, in the space where technology takes a back seat and presence takes the wheel?
Reclaiming our soul rich life, we talk a lot about abundance, manifestation, alignment.
But when did richness become tied to how many unread emails we have, or how often our phone pings? Going backwards, before the constant digital noise might sound uncomfortable, but it holds a richness many of us are craving. It’s the kind of richness that doesn’t come from scrolling late at night or adding to cart. It comes from slowing down. From knowing the seasons again. From creating something with our own two hands. From looking someone in the eye instead of through a screen.
Would We Be Richer Without Mindless Spending? Probably, because when you're not constantly bombarded with ads, influencers, “must-haves” and limited time offers, you begin to spend with intention. You would buy less but feel more fulfilled. You trade, you share, you appreciate.
Imagine swapping homemade tea blends with your neighbour or fixing what’s broken instead of replacing it or even saving up for something meaningful instead of mindlessly tapping ‘Buy Now’.
And let’s be real, without digital advertising, we’d all go back to naming our businesses
“AAA Healing Vibes” or “Alicia’s Angel Alchemy” just to get listed first in the Yellow Pages.
Simpler times. Less scrolling, more soul!
It’s Not Regression. It’s Realignment, going backwards doesn’t mean we ditch all technology and live in caves.
It means we start asking better questions, like, do I need this, or am I filling a void?
Is this helping me grow, or is it keeping me numb? Who am I without the noise?
Sometimes, the most radical thing we can do is slow down, disconnect, and remember how to be with ourselves without constant distraction.
Because in the stillness without the buzz and the ping and the curated content you hear your own voice again. You start to trust your own rhythm. You begin to live from the inside out.
Try going backwards for one day, turn off the devices, don’t buy anything, walk instead of scroll, make something with your hands. Let your senses guide you and then ask yourself
Do I feel richer now? Because maybe, just maybe, progress isn’t always forward.
Maybe the way forward…is gently back.
Slow living is REAL and it is coming for you!!
