Why I am offering Reiki by donation

It’s not because I’m wealthy.
It’s because I believe in a better future.

One where healing is accessible.
One where support doesn’t come with a hefty price tag.
One where community care returns to the centre of our lives

We live in a time where mental health struggles are rising. Nervous systems are overwhelmed. Souls are stretched thin. And in the middle of it all, healing has quietly become a luxury — something available only to those who can afford it.

I remember a time when I was moving through my own darkest days. I was desperate for guidance. For peace. For someone to hold me in calm. I didn’t have $250 to spare, but I spent it anyway. We went without a few comforts that month, but I needed that session. I needed to feel safe in my body again. I needed someone to remind me that I would be okay.

That moment stayed with me.

It made me question:
Why is healing priced out of reach for the very people who need it most?

In ancient times, shamans and healers were the heartbeat of their communities. They weren’t separated by screens or paywalls. They were supported in ways that made sense — through food, care, kindness, trade, and trust. Their presence was woven into the heart of the village.

Reiki and energy healing are sacred practices. They’re not replacements for modern medicine, but powerful complements to it. And as the cost of living continues to rise — myself included — I asked my spirit: How can I serve in a way that truly aligns with my heart?

And the answer was this:

Make it by donation.

This is my way of giving back.
Of honouring the sacred exchange.
Of living the Andean Quechua principle of Ayni — “Today for you, tomorrow for me.”

I believe in a model of care where people give what they can. Where those who have more, give more. And those with less, still receive. That’s the future I want to be part of — one built on reciprocity, not just revenue.

Yes, some people may take advantage. But honestly? They’re often the ones who need it the most. And I’m not here to judge. I’m here to serve.

The irony is, in today’s world, people often mistrust what comes freely. It stirs a quiet question in the back of their minds: Can something this accessible really be real? But that’s the very conditioning I want to soften. Healing doesn’t have to be exclusive to be powerful.

My dream is to one day open a community healing space. A place where anyone can walk in, take a deep breath, and be held — no guilt, no expectations, no barrier to entry. Just peace.

Because I know what it’s like to be the one holding it all together, while quietly falling apart.
And I know that sometimes, just one session can change the course of a day — even a life.

So no, this isn’t about being wealthy.
This is about remembering the village.
This is about choosing heart over hustle.
This is about making healing human again.
